Senior Quantity Surveyor - Birmingham
Civils Contractor
Salary (Dependant on experience) + Car/Car Allowance + Package
I am currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on highways works in their early phase with plenty of continuity left to run on it. This would be working for a Specialist civils contractor which is growing at a very fast pace which would guarantee continuity of works and maximising progression potential.
Key points:
1. Produce and develop Area / Regional budgets and forecasts
2. Advise the Estimating Department on any potential contractual risk and Methods of Measurement during the bidding process
3. Review and advise on Company Terms and Conditions of Contract
4. Advise on acceptance of orders and instructions
5. Carrying out CVR and Contract appraisals for the Area / Region
6. Negotiate and manage sub-contract orders and payment certificates
7. Build up rates and price variations
8. Assist in producing monthly contract appraisals / valuations in line with contract requirements
9. Produce and negotiate Interim and Final Accounts
10. Prepare and negotiate Claims, Adjudications, or other Dispute Resolutions
11. Overall financial monitoring and budgeting of selected contracts
12. Assist with commercial responses required in Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
13. Provide management of all commercial aspects of the projects
14. Assist with ensuring the governance and profitability of the projects
15. Develop, manage, and extend commercial relationships with the client and supply chain
16. Provide accurate commercial reporting to allow effective management of projects
17. Interface with finance, project managements and planning functions
18. Providing timely and accurate applications
19. Ensuring timely contractual notices are issued in accordance with the contractual timeframes
20. Carrying out CVR and Contract Appraisals for individual schemes
21. Preparing and estimating contractual changes and variations
22. Providing support and advice to the project management teams on such matters as contract compliance, contract awareness, contract change management, claims, variations, legal and finance matters to do with both Clients and Subcontractors
23. Assisting with providing monthly commercial and finance reports for internal meetings
24. Assist with contract programming and planning
25. Assist HR & Training departments with recruitment, onboarding, performance management & development of staff
26. Authorising staff holidays & other absences
27. Promote & encourage innovation and value
28. Motivating, coaching, encouraging, supporting, & providing guidance to other members of the commercial team
The ideal candidate:
29. Background running civils projects (highways/rail/utilities/groundwork/earthworks)
30. NEC experience
31. To have run a commercial team before
32. To have had exposure to a Main Contractor before
33. Proven experience of managing the commercial function for multi-million £ construction contracts with minimal senior support
Qualifications:
34. Relevant Degree / Higher, Advanced or Foundation qualification or to have or working towards Professional Qualification relevant to the role
