Job Overview
Providing comprehensive administrative support and planning to enable the team to carry out their roles effectively, while coordinating and overseeing the Portering staff in a Lead Portering Supervisor capacity.
UHD is investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. Some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service‑specific questions at interview.
Responsibilities
* Support and deputise for Department Manager on occasion.
* Investigate and where possible resolve day‑to‑day service‑related issues, raising to manager where required.
* Direct overall supervision of Portering Supervisory Team.
* Undertake staff appraisals.
* Partake in the recruitment process.
* Ensure correct daily staffing levels are maintained on Health Roster.
* Develop and maintain Departmental Wellbeing strategy in consultation with the Department Manager. Act as first point of contact for staff on wellbeing issues, signposting, monitoring and promoting wellbeing.
* Provide and supervise effective management of aggressive and abusive behaviour from patients and visitors in a firm and tactful manner, ensuring the personal safety and wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors are maintained.
* Apply appropriate Prevention Management of Violence & Aggression (PMVA) techniques as situations dictate, which may include physical restraint in line with agreed procedures.
* Assist with close observation of patients that may be at risk of harming themselves or others.
* Assist in locating and returning missing or absconding patients.
Travel and Work Location
UHD is investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
