Job Title: Care Pathway Specialist – London

Function: Customer Engagement

Location: Field Based - London

Type: Permanent

Salary: £64,062 potential to rise to £75,367 over 3 years

Closing Date: 11th November 2025


Purpose of the role

Partnering expertly with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders in 7 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) across the London region, you will be leading the delivery of best practice clinical change programmes to improve population health outcomes, enhance productivity and deliver value for money. Deploying a consultative and data‑led approach, you will establish unmet clinical need across care pathways and focus on product category areas (excluding SSDP) using the latest clinical guidance, best practice and recommendations from MedTech Directorate, AHSNs, NICE, GIRFT, MHRA, Royal Colleges and others to support the clinical case for change.

Collaborating with NHS customer stakeholders, Clinical Nurse Advisor Team, Hospital Care, Out of Hospital Care and CMSP colleagues within NHS Supply Chain, you will support systems to adopt innovation and clinical best practice that transforms care pathway outcomes for patients and help NHS Supply Chain unlock £1 Bn of savings by 2030.


Responsibilities

* Communicate function’s strategy to customers and its relationship to the NHS Supply Chain’s mission, vision and values and the aims and objectives of the NHS.
* Partner strategically with systems on care pathways with unmet clinical needs to deliver enhanced patient care outcomes and unlock efficiency gains for the local health economy.
* Co‑produce care pathway solutions, involve products and services available via the national model, and coordinate resources to influence positive changes in clinical practice with measurable outcomes and efficiency gains.
* Build collaborative relationships with senior functional and directorate stakeholders and establish key relationships at local and national level to engage systems with specific care pathway needs.
* Develop and implement a relationship management plan for strategic, complex and potential systems, coordinating engagement with the customer organisation to ensure effective two‑way flow of information and issue resolution.
* Shape, influence and lead the development of the Care Pathway Team Service Offering and ways of working to deliver opportunities at pace and scale.
* Work with Category Management Service Providers (CMSPs) to implement value that can be monetised and influence future innovation on category strategies.


Qualifications & Skills

* Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer‑centric patient outcome‑focused solutions through consultative influencing.
* Strong understanding of NHS programmes to support the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan with established customer relationships.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen within a healthcare setting essential; collaborates with clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders at all levels and develops benefits realisation papers and business case proposals.
* Supports clinical case for change at NHS provider or system level and influences systems to secure funding for clinical change.
* Track record of meeting and exceeding commercial performance targets within a healthcare setting.
* Understanding of appropriate clinical guidelines and strategic use when influencing the clinical case for change.
* Plans and prioritises work to meet commitments aligned with organisational goals and adapts to changes, including risks and contingencies.
* Analytical skills: makes sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems and separate root causes from symptoms.
* Develops and delivers multi‑mode communications that convey clear understanding of unique audience needs, listening and probing for richer insight.
* Adaptive and solution‑focused mindset.
* Degree or equivalent level of experience.
* Extensive NHS/healthcare experience with strong understanding of patient pathways and commissioning routes; clinical experience desirable but not essential.


How You’ll Work

Hybrid working; blending home, office and on‑customer‑site work with a 2/3 split between home and office or customer site.
