Family Hub at Clifton Street

We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.

We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Your role

In this exciting new opportunity, we are looking for a tenacious passionate and experienced manager to run one of our family hub sites in Wigan. Supporting an enthusiastic family hub team you will lead / co-produce one or two of the neighbourhood Family Hubs, this is subject to locality size and demographics. You will be working within a multi-agency framework and the key principles of Progress with Unity missions to develop and promote a flexible co‑ordinated and accessible timetable of whole age universal support in line with the localised strengths and needs of the neighbourhood, to build resilience in families.

About you

You are a highly motivated individual with significant experience in early help and prevention services, who can confidently lead teams and manage change. You will have a good working knowledge of safeguarding thresholds, health inequalities and their relation to the family hubs, as well as the Supporting Families Outcome Framework. You will be confident in representing the family hub network at external meetings and managing community buildings / budgets. You will ensure relationships with partners and key stakeholders flourish as we work collaboratively together.

About us

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our two place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them. The Family Hubs Team coordinate each of our Family Hubs which are a new way of bringing together all the support a family may need, from pregnancy through to young people turning 19 (or 25 if they have a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND)). Family hubs operate as a network of services within neighbourhoods to provide accessible and connected services and support to all families. These services work together to provide high quality support for the whole family, so that children, young people, and families get the right help at the right time.

Benefits and Working patterns

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
