Overview
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality, engaging Physical Education lessons that inspire students to enjoy sport and physical activity, promote healthy lifestyles, and achieve their potential. The PE Teacher will contribute to the wider life of the school by supporting extracurricular sport and whole-school initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver PE lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 if applicable), in line with the National Curriculum and exam specifications.
* Teaching & Learning: Use a range of teaching strategies to motivate and engage all learners, including those with SEN or EAL needs.
* Teaching & Learning: Assess, record, and report on students\' progress, providing constructive feedback.
* Teaching & Learning: Promote positive attitudes to physical activity, health, and wellbeing.
* Curriculum & Assessment: Contribute to the development of schemes of work and assessment strategies in PE.
* Curriculum & Assessment: Prepare pupils for internal and external assessments (GCSE, BTEC, A-Level if applicable).
* Curriculum & Assessment: Ensure lessons are inclusive and meet the needs of all students.
* Classroom & Behaviour Management: Establish a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment.
* Classroom & Behaviour Management: Uphold high expectations of behaviour in line with school policies.
* Classroom & Behaviour Management: Ensure health and safety procedures are followed during lessons, fixtures, and extracurricular activities.
* Enrichment & Wider Contribution: Lead and support extracurricular clubs, teams, and sporting events.
* Enrichment & Wider Contribution: Accompany students to fixtures, tournaments, and enrichment opportunities.
* Enrichment & Wider Contribution: Contribute to whole-school health, wellbeing, and enrichment programmes.
* Professional Responsibilities: Engage in professional development and keep up to date with current practice in PE teaching.

Person Specification (Essential)
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS.
* Strong subject knowledge in Physical Education and Sport.
* Ability to deliver high-quality lessons that inspire and engage students.
* Commitment to promoting physical activity, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
* Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
* Willingness to lead extracurricular activities and represent the school in fixtures.
Desirable
* Experience of teaching examination PE courses (GCSE, BTEC, or A-Level).
* Coaching qualifications in one or more sports.
* Experience working with SEN or SEMH pupils in a PE setting.
* First Aid or safeguarding training
