About the role
Global Procurement contributes significantly to Diageo's business, productivity, and growth goals. The Digital & Technology category aims to create value that supports operating margin improvement and competitive advantage through sourcing, negotiation, optimization, and supplier partnerships, balancing efficiencies and effectiveness of investments.
This category is complex, with diverse stakeholder needs, significant external spend, and key relationships at an executive level. The primary responsibility of this role is to drive value by ensuring the commercial aspects of spend are executed effectively with vendors. The role involves leading sourcing decisions, supporting value maximization, return on investment, and risk minimization, while ensuring quality of delivery and performance.
The Digital & Technology category is undergoing transformation, becoming more strategic and integrated into planning and decision-making processes. It is the most complex procurement category due to the products and services involved.
This role serves as the interface between business users, senior stakeholders, and the Procurement community, responsible for developing purchasing strategies to ensure Diageo acquires the right goods and services from the right suppliers at the right price. The role will develop and lead procurement efforts across various business streams through effective partnerships and collaboration.
* Applying strategic procurement excellence to develop category strategies based on Diageo’s standards and tools.
* Driving end-to-end execution of these strategies, aligning global and local teams.
* Serving as a subject-matter expert, leveraging supply market insights and engaging with collaborators for value-adding procurement.
Responsibilities
General
* Leadership: Build, lead, and elevate procurement's impact within the Digital & Technology function. Inspire and develop team members and coach individuals.
* Category Excellence: Own the maximization of procurement value for Diageo across one or more spend categories, utilizing best practices, market knowledge, and tools.
Category Strategy
* Business Partnering: Develop relationships with partners to gain insights and advise on maximizing value from procurement.
* Strategy Development: Create comprehensive category strategies aligned with business needs, based on market analysis.
* Capabilities: Use benchmarking and analytics to generate insights and improve strategies.
* Strategy Execution: Oversee implementation across regions, monitor progress, and resolve issues.
Sourcing
* Lead global sourcing activities and influence partners for alignment.
* Negotiate and close contracts effectively, delivering optimal outcomes.
Risk Management
* Identify and mitigate strategic, sourcing, and supply risks.
* Apply and enhance procurement tools and standards for risk mitigation.
Supplier Relationship Management
* Establish standards and trust with suppliers, ensuring performance and risk mitigation.
* Support performance metrics and collaborate on supplier development initiatives.
Experience, Skills & Capabilities Required
* Extensive procurement, finance, FMCG, or relevant experience.
* Proven leadership in projects and teams, strategy development, and supplier negotiations.
* Strong analytical, financial, and commercial skills, including understanding of legal and contractual concepts related to technology sourcing.
Skills
* Expertise in IT sourcing, contracting, and digital solutions such as automation and AI.
