This is a pivotal role within a firm that is committed to delivering high-quality legal services to UK consumers, with a strong focus on housing disrepair and tenancy deposit claims. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Compliance Officer to lead their compliance function and ensure adherence to all regulatory and professional standards. Key Responsibilities Promoting a Culture of Compliance Champion ethical conduct and regulatory compliance across all departments Act as a trusted advisor to staff, encouraging open dialogue around compliance matters Lead internal awareness campaigns and training to embed compliance into the firm’s culture Policy Development & Implementation Collaborate with leadership to design and implement policies aligned with SRA Standards and Regulations Maintain robust systems for documenting compliance activities, including risk assessments and complaints Oversee the complaints process, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement Monitoring & Reporting Develop and manage a compliance monitoring framework to track adherence to internal and external requirements Provide regular reports to senior leadership and regulatory bodies, highlighting risks and breaches where necessary Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls and recommend enhancements Regulatory Awareness & Risk Management Stay informed of changes in legal and regulatory frameworks, including AML, GDPR, and SRA updates Update internal policies in response to emerging risks and regulatory developments Support the firm’s risk management strategy by identifying and mitigating compliance risks Training & Communication Design and deliver training programs to ensure staff understand their compliance obligations Communicate updates and changes in compliance policies clearly and effectively Facilitate workshops and briefings to reinforce best practices Liaison & Continuous Improvement Serve as the primary point of contact for the SRA and other regulatory bodies Encourage feedback from staff to refine compliance processes Drive continuous improvement by integrating insights from audits, investigations, and industry trends Key Skills & Experience Qualified solicitor or legal executive with experience in a regulated legal environment Strong knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations, AML, and data protection laws Proven ability to manage compliance frameworks, handle complaints, and report breaches Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders Experience in regulatory reporting, audits, and investigations What’s on Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunities for professional development and career progression A collaborative and innovative working environment The chance to make a real impact in the field of consumer protection litigation Interested?
