About the Role
We are seeking a flexible, calm and confident individual to join our team as a Cover Supervisor. The successful candidate will cover teacher absence by supervising and supporting classes while students complete pre-set learning activities.
This role also includes acting as a form tutor, building positive relationships, and delivering our RESPECT curriculum (PSHE).
1. Hours: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8.30am – 3.30pm (with 30 minutes for lunch)
2. Weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time plus TED days)
3. Actual Salary: £12,759 – £14,536 (FTE £28,142 – £32,061)
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
4. Has experience of working with children (in a paid or voluntary capacity).
5. Demonstrates confidence and competence in managing learning and behaviour.
6. Is calm, approachable, and adaptable.
7. Has good organisational and communication skills.
8. Is proficient in ICT and confident using technology in the classroom.
A good sense of initiative, patience, and the ability to form positive relationships with young people are essential.

Job Description
Responsible to: Assistant Headteacher
Main Purpose of the Role:
To supervise and support classes during teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task, behave appropriately and complete the set work.
Key Responsibilities:
14. Liaise with the class teacher to understand lesson content and resources.
15. Explain tasks clearly to students and manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policy.
16. Ensure students’ safety and promote a positive learning environment.
17. Collect completed work and return it to the class teacher.
18. Support other areas of the school when not covering lessons.
19. Maintain clear records where required and communicate effectively with staff.
20. Uphold the school’s safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies at all times.
Person Specification
Essential:
21. Experience of working with children in a school or similar environment
22. Strong behaviour management skills
23. GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
24. Calm, authoritative and professional manner
25. Good ICT, communication and organisational skills
26. Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
27. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Desirable:
28. Certificate in Learning Support or equivalent
29. Relevant training (e.g. behaviour management)
30. Knowledge of wider educational issues
