IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist - Band 7

The post holder will assist in the delivery of high‑quality Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) services throughout the Trust. Working alongside other clinical colleagues to provide expert care, treatment and support for this patient group, the post holder will contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit and develop practice. They will play a key role within the multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless, coordinated and timely approach to care.
Main duties of the job
* Inpatient and outpatient assessment, education and clinical management for patients with IBD under the care of Kingston Hospital.
* Work as part of a Gastroenterology Team in collaboration with IBD Consultants.
* Develop and lead Nurse‑Led clinics and advisory line services.
* Manage biological medication programmes, monitor patients and maintain drug‑monitoring databases.
* Provide specialist advice and implement patient care requiring specific clinical knowledge, skills and experience.
* Act as a mentor to junior staff members.
Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse
Experience
* Relevant experience in a specialty or related area at Band 6 or above.
* Experience of MDT working with complex IBD patients.
* Clinical experience post‑registration in gastroenterology specialty.
* Experience of clinical teaching.
Skills
* Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written & verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of effective problem solving & decision‑making skills.
Knowledge
* Up to date specialist & professional knowledge.
* Knowledge of methods of delivery of care and professional accountability.
