We need a maintenance assistant to join our team to help keep our hospital environment safe, operational by supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and visitors - day in day out, it's a blend of planned maintenance coupled with emergency repairs and everything in between.

Responsibilities
As an Estates Maintenance Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our hospitals remain safe, functional, and comfortable for patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include:
Planned Maintenance: Executing planned maintenance tasks to keep our buildings, plant, and equipment in top condition.
Safety First: Prioritising safety by conducting regular inspections and addressing potential hazards to create a secure environment.
Exceptional Service: Delivering outstanding customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Flexible Support: Adapting to changing priorities and working flexibly to support our clinical teams and patient care.
Main duties of the job
To undertake, without supervision a variety of tasks which would include:-
Emergency Lighting Checks
Replacement of lighting tubes or lamps
Cleaning diffusers
Completing maintenance records
Ensuring compliance in relation to the emergency lighting systems
Assist Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers and other staff groups in the repair, service and inspection of building, mechanical, electrical, associated systems.

Main duties of the job
To undertake, without supervision a variety of tasks which would include:-
Lighting Checks
Replacement of lighting tubes or lamps
Cleaning diffusers
Decoration internal areas
Fixing of notice boards, clocks, notices etc
Replacement of damaged ceiling tiles
Cleaning extract fans and ventilation grilles
Replacement/re-fixing of toilet seats
Replacement/re-fixing of hand/safety rails
Inspection and first aid repairs to flooring
Re-washering hot and cold water taps
Temperature checks water services
Care of curtain tracks, blinds etc
Assist Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers and other staff groups in the repair, service and inspection of building, mechanical, electrical, associated systems. This would include plant and equipment in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the fabric of the hospital to provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
This can be achieved by carrying out the work detailed on the work order card (PDA) within the time given.

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
Proven history of working within an engineering / Building Services environment.
Good hand skills working with fine tools.
Good skills working with a variety of power tools.
Excellent Communication Skills: both written & verbal
Proven Steam Raising Plant experience
Desirable criteria
Sound knowledge of relevant Health Technical Memorandums (HTM's)
Qualifications
Essential criteria
Educated to City and Guilds Level for Boiler / Steam Raising Plant
Have BOAS (Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme) training
Desirable criteria
NVQ Training in an Engineering / Building Discipline
