Clinical Specialist Sensory Integration Practitioner – Florin Chilian
Join to apply for the Clinical Specialist Sensory Integration Practitioner role at Florin Chilian. Starting date for this post is March 2026 to allow onboarding, induction, and training before the anticipated arrival of the first patient in April 2026. This is a pioneering role to lead the development of sensory practice in a highly specialist setting within Kent and Medway’s NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for women.
This role offers a High Cost Area Supplement: 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum of £1,303 per year and a maximum of £2,198 per year (divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly). The salary listed is inclusive of the High-Cost Area Allowance.
Location: Dartford unit. All jobs based at our Dartford unit come with the High Cost Area Supplement as described.
We are recruiting now to ensure our new female PICU team is in place with training time, team bonding, and preparation to make a profound difference to patient outcomes from day one.
Responsibilities
* Use advanced clinical assessment skills to carry out and coordinate comprehensive, systematic holistic assessments taking into account mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors, in partnership with patients and others through interaction, observation, and measurement.
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines, patients, and their carers to formulate and agree a holistic person-centred intervention plan addressing identified needs.
* Provide strong leadership and access to clinical expertise across the area with a significant contribution to direct care.
* Proactively develop, deliver, and evaluate safe, person-centred care in partnership with the service user and their carers to support recovery.
* Act as a clinical leader supporting the development of best practice in line with trust policy and NICE guidance.
* Facilitate and review approved Quality Improvement initiatives within directorates.
* Use highly developed communication skills to enable high-quality service delivery within a complex and challenging environment.
* Promote and deliver evidence-based care for patients.
* Contribute to a team environment that supports the care of women with severe and complex mental health conditions within the PICU setting (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, substance misuse, PTSD).
* Support the multidisciplinary team to ensure right care, in the right place, at the right time, and ensure access to specialist care for the most unwell women in the community.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and bespoke training as part of induction and career progression.
Qualifications and experience
* Dedicated, compassionate mental health professional with clinical expertise in sensory integration and an understanding of how sensory processing differences affect function, communication, and engagement in treatment.
* Experience working in high-acuity psychiatric settings and leading practice development within a specialist team is desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively with service users, families, and carers, and to lead a multidisciplinary team.
