Join to apply for the Bridge Inspector - Gloucestershire role at WSP.
Role based in Gloucester as part of WSP’s Structures team, supporting the long-term professional services contract for Gloucestershire County Council (GCC).
What you will do
You will work within a team of established professionals with an in-depth knowledge of the county’s structures. You will be supported by structures colleagues from across WSP who provide additional resources and specialist expertise to deliver high-quality services. This role involves assessing the condition of the client’s assets and helping identify and prioritise maintenance and repair works. You will contribute to a programme of over 500 General and around 100 Principal Inspections each year, and you may be asked to undertake Special Inspections and survey accident damage to structures.
The County has a varied bridge stock, including viaducts and small masonry arches, and this role supports protecting and improving those assets.
Responsibilities
• Play a key role in inspecting and evaluating bridge conditions as part of the GCC structures programme.
• Support prioritisation of maintenance and repair works based on inspection findings.
• Contribute to delivering inspection workloads in collaboration with the local team and wider WSP colleagues.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
 * A mature and self-aware approach to achieving high standards and safe working practices.
 * A passion and aptitude for bridge inspection, with a sound understanding of bridge design principles.
 * Familiarity with bridge inspections processes and Bridge Condition Indicators.
 * A HNC, HND in civil/structural engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
 * Evidence of being a confident communicator able to convey your point of view and keep stakeholders and colleagues informed.
