Job Description

Therapeutic Practice Manager, South-West

Full Time - 40 hours per week.

The Therapeutic Practice Manager SW will assist the management teams within the homes to provide the highest possible standards of therapeutic care, guidance, support, and protection for the children living in our Therapeutic Homes in the South West. They will oversee the implementation of the Park Blue Therapeutic Plan and the Pillars of Parenting Model.

This is achieved through the coordination and audit of therapeutic processes integrating clinical oversight to regulatory operations, and the direct delivery of support to teams in groups and individuals. This role acts as the therapeutic link between the clinical psychologist, POP (Pillars of Parenting), and Registered Managers.

Duties:

* To ensure the Park Blue Therapeutic Plan is embedded across all 7 Homes within the South West.
* To facilitate and organise in each Home monthly reflective supervision to the staff teams within each Home.
* To deliver some bite sized therapeutic training within the Homes each month.
* To ensure that POP assessments are arranged with the psychologist and to have oversight that the therapeutic recommendations are embedded in the children’s paperwork and that the team understand and implement the strategies advised by the psychologist. Be able to facilitate small workshops to ensure the team are empowered to work collaboratively with the POP assessments.
* To assist the management team in achieving the aims set out within the therapy policy and emotional warmth policy of the organisation and in accordance with the Statements of Purpose for each home
* To produce monthly therapeutic reports for the therapeutic activities of each home summarising the inputs, live themes/focus of the month, training, and direct work with the teams.
* To make monthly therapy audit visits to the homes and review performance in relation to the expected processes, formulate monthly therapy audits to share with the wider senior management team for the homes
* Attend monthly team and management meetings to discuss the therapeutic thread in the home, this will be a fixed agenda item
* To liaise with the manager of each home and coordinate a team approach to delivery of the therapeutic model – scheduling training, reflective supervision, wellness activities, and bite-sized training
* To provide additional and direct support to keyworkers to help them implement their therapeutic role and work as guided by the psychological oversight
* To work with senior managers in the implementation of therapeutic practices and systems in readiness for internal audit and external inspection (Reg 44 and Ofsted). To attend Ofsted inspections to deliver the information about the current therapeutic input
* To provide ‘point in time’ reflective sessions with managers and teams when there are periods of disruption within a home, producing a reflective and action-based report to help stabilise the home
* To work closely with HR in the co-ordination and planning of ‘therapy-related’ staff training as a service to the Registered Managers. To identify and implement necessary therapeutic training as and when required by the home teams
* To coordinate and liaise adventurous activities are being booked and planed around the POP assessment strategies
* Monitor each homes engagement with the focus of the month including core values.
* To support children in being empowered and having a voice to influence quality and practice.
* Engage with homes challenges meetings when children are in behavioural crisis – ensure care plans and behaviour support plans are updated following homes challenges meetings.
* Ensure external therapeutic interventions (psychologist or CAMHS) are documented, promoting engagement in POP consultations and translating to care planning.
* To be involved with the admission of each child and have oversight of the referral and matching risk assessment. Discussing with the psychologist around potential needs of the new and existing children.

Special requirements:

* To have a strong background working therapeutically with children and young people.
* To ensure a therapeutic and caring environment and culture.
* To be professional, confident and can deliver training to teams as well as attend meetings.
* To be aware of and to understand the needs of Looked After Children.
* Committed to providing positive outcomes to children and young people.
* To have a commitment to their own professional development and learning and undertake courses and further learning as required.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

* A degree or NVQ Level 5 or equivalent in social work, psychology, counselling or trauma informed care related subject.
* Professional experienced working with therapeutic models such as attachment theory, PACE, mental health of children and be willing to undertake training around the Pillars of parenting Model.
* Reflective Practise and Supervision Experience and Training.
* Strong understanding of care plans and therapeutic interventions.
* Experience of working in a residential care setting is advantageous.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Ability to coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of Children's Home Regulations.
* Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping practices.
* Crisis Management or de-escalation Training
