Overview
Do you have a passion for trees? WSP has a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology and Arboriculture team that works across a diverse range of projects in the UK for private and public clients. The team prides itself on integrated support, working alongside in‑house specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.
You will be expected to be involved with several projects concurrently and be a proactive member of the team. Knowledge of GIS and CAD specialists is not required but an advantage; experience with digital data capture devices such as tablets in the field is preferred. The Arboriculture and Forestry team and its projects are spread across the UK so there is flexibility on location.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to the Principal and Senior Consultant
* Site based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments.
* Collation and interpretation of arboricultural information from desk studies.
* Preparing technical reports and feasibility studies, inputting into arboricultural impact assessments and arboricultural method statements.
* Liaising with design team developing mitigation solutions.
* Data analysis and project management.
* Provide support to the senior and junior members of the team.
* Working on NSIP / DCO projects preparing technical reports and feasibility studies, inputting into arboricultural impact assessments and arboricultural method statements.
* Ability to manage tight deadlines, work to agreed standards and deliver high quality work.
* Project pricing for small sites.
* Actively participates in recruitment when asked.
* Desire to work with junior team members to encourage their career development.
Qualifications
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn
* Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in arboriculture or a related field.
* Professional Tree Inspectors (PTI certificate).
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant and/or as a local authority tree officer or similar.
* Experience in undertaking arboriculture surveys using digital data capture.
* Experience in inputting to and producing high quality technical arboriculture reports in support of planning applications.
* The ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboricultural, landscape and environmental professionals.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies.
* The flexibility to travel and work away from home within the UK regularly.
* A desire to develop your core arboriculture and consultancy skills.
* Positive health and safety approach to all aspects of work and an understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
* A responsibility to always act professionally.
