Turnaround Manager – Children's Residential Homes
Location: Wolverhampton
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
Start Date: ASAP / Negotiable
Are you a dynamic, results-driven leader with a passion for transforming services and improving lives?
We're looking for an experienced Turnaround Manager to join our clients senior team and lead the improvement and stabilisation of underperforming Ofsted-regulated children's homes. This critical role is all about driving positive change, embedding best practices, and ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
About the Role
As Turnaround Manager, you'll be deployed into children's homes that require focused leadership to address performance issues, improve regulatory ratings, and stabilise the service. Working closely with operational leaders and care teams, you'll lead by example, deliver rapid interventions, and coach teams toward long-term success.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives under pressure, is solutions-focused, and has a deep understanding of children's residential care, safeguarding, and Ofsted expectations.
About the Company
A well-established provider of children's residential care with approximately 10 homes in the region, the majority of which are rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. Our clients homes are built on foundations of stability, therapeutic support, and consistent leadership.
You won't be doing this alone — you'll be supported by a team of experienced Responsible Individuals (RIs) who will guide you through the registration and turnaround process. With strong senior leadership and a proven operational framework, you'll have everything you need to drive meaningful, sustainable change.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead strategic and operational interventions in underperforming homes to ensure rapid and sustainable improvements
* Work collaboratively with Registered Managers and teams to raise standards in care delivery, compliance, and culture
* Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and implement robust action plans
* Support homes through Ofsted inspections and prepare services for regulatory success
* Drive a culture of accountability, learning, and trauma-informed practice
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership support to staff and managers
* Ensure all homes meet or exceed Ofsted regulations and children's legislation
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Regional/Operations Manager within children's residential care
* Strong track record of turning around services rated 'Requires Improvement' or 'Inadequate'
* In-depth knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding procedures, and EBD/complex care
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Excellent people leadership, change management, and coaching skills
* Able to travel between services (full UK driving licence essential)
What You'll Get in Return
* Highly competitive salary + performance-related bonuses
* Mileage allowance or company car
* Autonomy and backing from an experienced executive leadership team
* Opportunity to make a significant, lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable children
* Ongoing training, CPD, and career development pathways
* Company benefits including:
* Pension scheme
* Additional leave
* Flexible working options
* Supportive, values-driven culture
