Job Overview We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers within the Medlock Unit, in the Dyson Cancer Centre. We're looking for caring and compassionate people who are happy to work as part of a large and inclusive team to join us. If you're kind and passionate about making a positive difference to others, this role could be for you. Our Clinical Healthcare Support Workers are integral to our nursing team. The new Medlock Unit provides chemotherapy, anti-cancer treatments and day care services for patients. As a valued member of the team, you will deliver high-quality personal care and support patients in maintaining their independence and self-care. It takes flexibility, commitment and compassion to be a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker, but in return we can offer you a rewarding career at the RUH. We provide all the training you need before you start working on one of our wards. You will start on our induction programme to help you settle into the Royal United Hospitals Bath and you will learn the skills you need to do this role. Main duties of the job You will be supporting registered nurses to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan. This is a busy role so you will be working together with your team to balance different tasks that often change. Your Daily Duties Will Be Varied To Include patient observations, supportive care such as scalp cooling, ensuring necessary stock levels on unit, transporting samples to laboratory. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Basic school education with GCSE passes or equivalent. Basic IT skills Desirable criteria NVQ Level III Care Award – Direct Care or equivalent. Skills Essential criteria Understands the need for strict confidentiality. Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives. Able to prioritise own workload. Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role. Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
