Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro-rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 22.5 per week over 3 days, 39 weeks sessional
Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our STEM faculty to support the teaching staff in the Science Department.
Responsibilities
* Ensure equipment is maintained and that adequate levels of materials and equipment are available for use by teachers and students.
* Assist the teaching staff in demonstrating the use of equipment.
* Prepare materials, equipment and science areas for use by teachers and students.
* Assist in demonstrating the use of equipment and apparatus and coach junior staff in its usage.
* Design and construct equipment and apparatus for use in experiments.
* Maintain an adequate range of stock and efficient stock levels.
* Maintain a stores system, complete purchase orders for final approval by the Curriculum Leader in line with Council Purchasing procedures, and keep the stores well organised and maintained.
Requirements
* Experience in maintaining teaching equipment and laboratory supplies.
* Ability to design or construct simple equipment, apparatus or demonstrator tools.
* Good organisational skills, including stock control and purchase order management.
* Strong communication skills and willingness to coach junior staff.
Regulated Work, PVG and Criminal Record Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undertake an update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more overseas in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Candidates will be required to provide this check. Acceptance of the offer and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
