Job Overview
Band 5 Childrens Occupational Therapist in Barking and Dagenham as part of the Childrens Integrated Targeted Health Services. The post is a permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours per week).
You will join a small, innovative and supportive team, providing assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0‑19 who have functional difficulties attributable to a wide range of special needs or disabilities. Assessment and intervention is delivered within the clinic but also in the child’s home, school, nursery or community settings, with opportunities to develop and run groups.
The Childrens Occupational Therapy Team is based in a purpose‑built centre, co‑located with many other health services. Therapists have good access to clinical space and close working relations with the multi‑disciplinary teams. You will work closely with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services.
Key responsibilities
* Manage your own caseload and work without direct supervision;
* Provide functional assessment of children with special needs and disabilities, focusing on childhood occupations;
* Deliver family‑centred and evidence‑based occupational therapy intervention;
* Contribute to the planning, co‑ordination, delivery and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service;
* Facilitate both one‑to‑one intervention and group sessions for children, young people and parents.

Employment details

* Post is subject to a probationary period.
* High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London: 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 per annum, pro‑rated for part‑time).
Induction
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
