Material Planner and Buyer
Location: Margate, Kent

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum DOE

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and proactive Material Planner / Buyer to join a fast-paced, technically advanced manufacturing environment. This is a hybrid position combining tactical planning with hands-on purchasing responsibilities, playing a critical role in ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key responsibilities
* Forecast material and component requirements based on production schedules
* Raise and manage purchase orders to ensure the timely delivery of materials
* Maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent supply shortages
* Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and other departments to meet internal demands
* Monitor supplier performance and resolve order or delivery issues
* Assist with procurement support on key projects and new developments
* Ensure ERP/MRP data is maintained and accurate
* Participate in cost-saving initiatives and risk mitigation planning
* Identify and qualify alternate sources for critical materials
* Track and resolve discrepancies relating to pricing, delivery, or invoicing
* Support continuous improvement across procurement processes and systems
* Maintain and update key documentation, including stock value reports, price change records, and supplier communications
Skills and experience
* Experience in a materials planning or purchasing role within a manufacturing environment
* Strong understanding of supply chain processes, ERP/MRP systems, and inventory planning
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of managing multiple priorities
* Passionate about process improvement and operational efficiency
