Our client, a prominent entity in the public sector, is seeking a Principal Structures Engineer on a contract basis to join their dynamic Highways team. This role involves leading and managing the delivery of bridge and highway structures projects, ensuring statutory compliance, structural safety, and long-term serviceability. Key Responsibilities: Lead the planning, design, and management of bridge and highway structure maintenance and improvement works. Perform technical approvals of designs, assessments, and inspections in accordance with UK standards and guidance (e.g., DMRB, CS 450, BD 63). Supervise and develop a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with legislation and standards. Manage inspections (General, Principal, Special) in line with UK standards and guidance. Oversee external consultants and contractors to ensure efficient delivery of projects on time and within budget. Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, contract documents, and procurement plans. Act as Technical Approval Authority or Checking Engineer where qualified. Ensure Health & Safety and CDM Regulations are comprehensively integrated into all activities. Job Requirements: Experience of working in a Highways Structures environment.
