Senior Managers

Salary: £66,336 - £72,150 | Full time, Fixed Term until 31/03/2027 | 37 hours per week | Lancashire

We are currently recruiting

Two exceptional Senior Managers to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Families First, Lancashire's flagship children's services reform programme - one will be aligned to Early Help & one from Children's Social Care.

This is a rare opportunity to operate at the heart of a once-in-a-generation national transformation - supporting the redesign of early help and safeguarding so that families receive the right help, at the right time, in the right way. You'll be bringing to life how the Families First Programme can make a difference within your specific service and you'll be representing the views of your Head of Service on how this can be integrated.

If you are driven by improving outcomes for children and families, confident operating at a senior strategic level, and experienced in translating national reform into meaningful operational practice - we would love to hear from you.

About Families First

Families First is a bold national reform transforming children's social care by uniting agencies earlier and more effectively to ensure families receive the right help at the right time. Lancashire is leading the way with integrated Family Help, fully joined-up Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams, and empowering Family Group Decision‑Making. This compassionate, relationship-focused approach reduces duplication, strengthens safeguarding and puts families at the centre. We're now seeking passionate professionals from Health, Education and Policing to help deliver this ambitious, county‑wide transformation.

The Roles

As Senior Manager, you will provide senior leadership, professional oversight and strategic direction across the programme.

Working within Education & Children's Services, you will:

* Translate national Families First reform into clear, high-quality operational delivery
* Shape and influence county-wide practice standards, pathways and guidance
* Lead and support system-wide practice improvement
* Provide expert consultation and assurance in complex early help and safeguarding contexts
* Strengthen multi-agency alignment across children's services, education, health, police and partners

This role is central to ensuring Lancashire's Families First approach remains robust, consistent, evidence-based and focused on outcomes for children and families.

What We're Looking For

Across both roles, we're looking for people who not only bring professional expertise, but who genuinely care about making Lancashire a place where families can thrive.

Strategic influence in this role means thinking far beyond the boundaries of a single organisation and understanding how different parts of the system connect. It calls for people who can confidently shape change at scale, influence without relying on formal authority, and lead through strong, trust-based relationships. Working closely with senior leaders across multiple agencies, you'll help redesign pathways, strengthen practice, and drive improvement, ensuring your insight and leadership meaningfully shape decisions across the county.

Exceptional communication is at the heart of transforming any system. That requires leaders who build trust quickly, engage in courageous yet respectful conversations, and handle sensitive information with care and diplomacy. You'll need to communicate complex issues clearly and bring diverse partners together around a shared purpose - serving as a collaborator and connector who helps people move forward collectively, even when the journey is challenging.

Flexible & solutions-focused because Families First operates in a fast‑paced and constantly evolving environment, the role also demands flexibility, resilience and a solutions-focused mindset. You'll be navigating complexity, adapting when priorities shift, and keeping sight of the wider vision while maintaining optimism and curiosity. Most importantly, you'll be able to turn emerging challenges into opportunities for creative problem‑solving and better outcomes.

Why join the Families First Programme? Because this is more than a job - it's an opportunity to help build a system that genuinely changes lives.

You’ll join a partnership that is collaborative, ambitious, supportive and energised by a shared mission. Every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to make a real difference for children and families across Lancashire.
