Electrical Design Engineer - Heywood
We are supporting a highly respected engineering manufacturer in recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. About the Role
You'll be part of an engineering department that designs specialist industrial machinery involving high‑precision coating and processing systems. The role covers the full electrical design lifecycle -from early concept work through detailed schematics and final design documentation.
This is a hands‑on, collaborative role where you will contribute to bespoke machine builds rather than repetitive, off‑the‑shelf products.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Documentation
Lead all electrical design activities across assigned machine projects.
Produce accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting documentation.
Ensure all designs meet relevant British and European electrical regulations.
Select components and cabling suited to the machine's operating environment and performance demands.
Create, maintain, and update drawings from initial concept sheets through to red‑line revisions.
Project Ownership
Manage the electrical workstream of each project, ensuring timelines, quality, and compliance are met.
Coordinate closely with internal teams, including mechanical engineering and production.
Collaboration & Communication
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and cross‑functional colleagues to clarify requirements and ensure technical alignment.
Diagnose and solve design‑related issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Contribute ideas to enhance machine performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
Stay informed on electrical engineering advancements, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
Be proactive in developing your technical knowledge and engineering skillset.
About You
We're looking for someone who brings:
Strong experience designing electrical control circuits for industrial machinery or automated systems.
Knowledge of UK/EU electrical standards and compliance requirements.
Experience producing detailed electrical drawings using relevant CAD tools.
Confidence in managing electrical design elements of projects from start to finish.
Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all technical levels.
