Job Purpose and Summary: In our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians support the pharmacy team to deliver operational and service excellence. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while delivering caring service that exceeds expectations. Technicians work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
As a Technician, you will complete a rigorous training program and must satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to your State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until requirements are completed, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities include:
* Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
* Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off)
* Deliver a positive patient experience through empathy and genuine care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; escalate issues as needed
* Assist with basic inventory activities and per policy, such as stocking deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stocks
* Contribute to a high-performing team, seek feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledge
* Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; may travel to stores to support the market
* Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy
* Deliver additional patient health care services where allowed by law and training (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics)
Immunization support (where permissible) includes:
* Completing licensure/training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare/administer vaccines
* Educating patients about vaccines and referring questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
* Monitoring for adverse reactions and reporting as required
* Reviewing patient information and documenting for applicable patients
* Monitoring and managing vaccine supplies
Required Qualifications
* Must comply with state board requirements governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification)
* If not mandated by the state board, minimum age is 16; high school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in HS/HS equivalency
* State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
Essential Functions

* Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, typing, fine motor tasks, visual acuity
* Ability to receive and convey detailed information orally
* Additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
* 1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience
* Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings
* Willingness to work across the market to meet business needs

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is $16.00 - $27.00 per hour. Actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors.
