Estates Officer – Mechanical
Location: West London
Hourly Pay: £31.45 CIS
Hours: 37.5 per week
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage statutory, mandatory and reactive maintenance across all primary mechanical systems, including HVAC, steam boilers, water systems, lifts, ventilation, refrigeration and other core engineering assets.
* Act as Authorised Person (AP) and/or Topic Lead for multiple mechanical disciplines, ensuring full compliance with HTMs, HSE legislation and Trust policies.
* Oversee mechanical contractors, manage technical submissions, evaluate compliance, and support capital project development with specialist advice.
* Support and contribute to major site development programmes and forward investment planning, ensuring new buildings and plant are safe, resilient and compliant.
* Deliver robust risk assessments, safety audits and reporting; identify and escalate risks; and contribute to Trust-wide governance and safety processes.
* Produce and communicate complex technical information clearly to clinical teams, senior managers and external stakeholders.
* Manage delegated revenue budgets, monitor expenditure, and ensure value for money in maintenance and project delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced mechanical engineering professional with strong technical, organisational and leadership skills. You will bring:
* ONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, and continuing professional development.
* Strong understanding of NHS estates environments, mechanical systems compliance, and Health & Safety legislation.
* Experience in managing mechanical plant, CAFM systems, and leading contractors or technical teams.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making capability — able to interpret complex data and work under pressure.
* Confidence to challenge, influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced operational environment.
