Position Summary: The Construction Buyer will play a crucial role in the procurement team, responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services required for groundworks projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that all materials and services are acquired at the best possible value, on time, and meet quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Source and procure materials, equipment, and services for groundworks projects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Evaluate and negotiate supplier contracts and agreements to secure the best terms and conditions. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials. Collaborate with project managers and site teams to understand material requirements and project timelines. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and new products. Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and inventory. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Assist in the preparation of budgets and cost estimates for projects. Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to procurement and deliveries. About you: Proven experience as a Construction Buyer or similar role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of groundworks and civil engineering materials and services. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organisational and time management skills. Attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid UK driving licence.
