SEND Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Barnet
Long Term Futures are working with a highly nurturing specialist setting in Barnet to appoint a number of SEND Teaching Assistants for September 2025.This is a purpose-built environment supporting pupils with Autism and associated communication and sensory needs. The school offers a calm and therapeutic learning experience tailored to each pupil's profile, with small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a deep commitment to inclusive, personalised education.
Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism and additional needs Work closely with teachers, therapists and external professionals to implement EHCP targets Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton and visual schedules to support learning Assist with daily routines including transitions, personal care and sensory regulation activities Help create a structured, predictable and positive environment that supports emotional and academic progress Monitor and report on pupil engagement, behaviour and development
Ideal Candidates Will Have: Experience working with children or young people with ASD and complex needs A calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach Confidence in supporting students with sensory processing needs and communication challenges Good teamwork and the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team* A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners
Location and Transport - Barnet, London EN5 Easily accessible from High Barnet, New Barnet and Cockfosters Served by local bus routes including 184, 307, 326* On-site parking and excellent facilities available for staff
