PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Live Event Manager leads editorial and event production planning for BBC Radio events across the popular music stations. You’ll help ensure every event runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest editorial standards—bringing unforgettable experiences to audiences.
This role will lead a small project team in logistics, production, and stakeholder communications while championing inclusivity, sustainability, and financial accountability. You will be responsible for planning and organising broadcast requirements of events across popular music stations, delivering flagship live music events such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Radio 2 In the Park, 6 Music Festival, and Asian Network Certified.
For Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Radio 2 In the Park, the event manager collaborates closely with the Festival Production Executive to ensure seamless integration of broadcast elements.
Event Managers may deliver events across multiple radio networks and oversee day‑to‑day management of an assigned radio network’s event calendar, task‑managing Event Coordinators for small to medium events.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Event Management – Lead planning, production, and delivery of live music events across BBC’s popular music networks, coordinating all requirements for successful delivery, including location assessment, recces, communications, budgets, contracts, and stage production.
* Event Delivery – Own on‑site execution and studio productions, ensuring seamless delivery and adherence to BBC standards. Build and maintain relationships with teams, suppliers, talent, and contributors.
* Innovation and Creativity – Champion continuous improvement, implementing creative strategies that elevate audience engagement and maintain BBC’s reputation.
* Financial Responsibility – Take accountability for event budgets, ensuring robust governance, transparency, and cost control.
* Health and Safety – Lead implementation of health, safety, security, and safeguarding protocols to meet legal and BBC standards.
* Sustainability – Embed sustainability into production, aligning with BBC’s Net‑Zero, People, and Nature Positive commitments.
* Culture – Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture where teams feel empowered, respected, and motivated to deliver world‑class events.

* Extensive Live Event Experience – Demonstrable experience managing live music events, ideally within popular music, with deep understanding of technical and operational requirements.
