Alfred Newton Solicitors are seeking a full time, experienced Legal Aid Billing Clerk/Billing Paralegal to join their team at the Stockport office.
The successful applicant's duties will include;
· Processing bills prepared by a costs draftsman
· Billing Legal Aid, Legal Help and private files
· Liaising with counsel and experts regarding disbursements
· Making applications and dealing with the Legal Aid Agency
· Liaising with partners, fee earners and support staff
Skills required;
· Previous legal aid billing experience, preferably in the areas of family and mental health law
· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
· Previous use of a legal case management system is preferred
· A good standard of education and strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
· The ability to work on one's own initiative
· The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team
