Main duties of the job
Cygnet Nield House in Crewe is a 29-bed mental health hospital for women, divided into two wards: a female acute service and a female personality disorder service.
This role is based on Compton Ward, a 15-bed acute service for women, providing a safe environment for women experiencing an acute mental health episode requiring emergency admission.

We seek an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Cygnet Nield House, providing senior medical oversight on Compton Ward.
The post involves being the Responsible Clinician, overseeing inpatient care, auditing medical services, and ensuring compliance with GMC standards and other guidelines.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including a Specialty Doctor, nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists, with opportunities for career progression to Medical Director.

Main duties include:
* Leading high-quality patient care on Compton Ward
* Serving as a positive role model
* Managing treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team
* Assessing referrals and conducting mental state examinations
* Investigating, diagnosing, and treating patients
* Conducting ward rounds, reviews, and audits
* Implementing risk assessments and clinical governance
* Supervising reports for tribunals and hearings
* Liaising with the Ministry of Justice regarding patient transfers and leave
* Maintaining patient records
* Communicating regularly with senior staff and stakeholders
* Participating in academic meetings and CPD standards compliance
* Contributing to the on-call rota
