The Role: Learning Support Assistant
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to provide tailored support for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH. Your role will be key in helping students access learning, build confidence, and develop independence both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs
Support the planning and delivery of interventions tailored to student needs
Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Contribute to restorative practice approaches and mentoring support
Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to the SEN team
Ideal Candidates
Have a background in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, or related experience
Are interested in progressing into teaching, SEN, or educational psychology
Are empathetic, patient, and resilient
Have experience in mentoring, youth work, or restorative practice (desirable but not essential)
Requirements
A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A current DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
