Experienced Social Worker – Adult Safeguarding

Are you an expert in adult protection looking for a fast-paced, high-impact role? Swindon Borough Council is seeking an Experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team as an Enquiry Manager. This is a critical role for a practitioner who excels in managing risk.
The Role: Enquiry Manager
You will lead on statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, ensuring that the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal are at the heart of every intervention.
* Decision Making: Triage referrals and gather information to make robust Section 42(1) criteria decisions within 5 working days.
* Enquiry Oversight: Take accountability for Section 42(2) Enquiries, ensuring completion within 28 days where a safeguarding plan is not required.
* Leadership: Manage complex safeguarding plans, supervise others, and chair multi-agency meetings to mitigate risk.
* Legal Expertise: Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 daily, completing assessments, Best Interest Decisions, and supporting Court work.

* Duty: You will be expected to be on the duty rota one day per week.

Requirements
Due to the complexity of this role, we are looking for highly skilled professionals who meet the following:
* Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care.
* Extensive knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, and safeguarding legal frameworks.
* Ideally, additional qualifications such as Best Interest Assessor (BIA) or Practice Supervisor/Educator.
* Proven ability to work under pressure and manage high-risk caseloads
