Consultant in Clinical Oncology – Breast & Colorectal Cancers

Ensure the continued delivery of high‑quality oncological care to patients within the trust and contribute to further development of the service. The appointee will act as Lead Oncologist for Breast and Colorectal clinical oncology, sharing responsibility with Dr. Morton‑Gittens, Specialist Oncologist. The role will manage treatment of colorectal cancers, maintain multidisciplinary care, increase clinical trial entry, and expand services as needed.
Responsibilities
* Lead breast and colorectal oncology services, ensuring multidisciplinary management.
* Contribute to the ongoing service improvement programme, including GIRFT and implementation of evidence‑based practices.
* Support recruitment and participation in clinical trials.
* Develop and expand the service to meet patient needs.
* Encourage applications to the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management fellowship.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCP Part 1 and Part 2.
* FRCR.
* Postgraduate thesis awarded or pending.
Experience
* Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC.
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible within six months of receipt of CCT or CESR.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Clinical Oncology.
* Wide experience prescribing chemotherapy, including e‑prescribing.
* Experience in Acute Oncology.
* Completion of advanced communication skills training.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
The post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Location: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn, NHSFT.
Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata).
