Raw Story, America's largest independent progressive news site, is seeking a UK-based news writer to expand its round-the-clock coverage of breaking news in U.S. politics, criminal justice, elections, social justice, and extremism.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of covering news, with a minimum of two years of experience. A genuine interest in and familiarity with U.S. politics is essential.
Key Requirements:
* Proven ability to unearth new stories and explore unique angles on events and issues that have yet to be covered by mainstream media.
* In-depth knowledge and interest in the fast-paced breaking news cycle.
* Demonstrated strong news judgment and an ability to write in a style that connects with Raw Story's readership.
* Ability to handle a high volume of writing.
* Familiarity with social media channels and effective story promotion.
* Proven ability to work alone.
This shift will involve coverage during the U.S. early morning hours. The pay for this position is in the range of $270 per 8-hour shift (about £200).
