Job Title: Waking Night Support Worker – SEN & Disabilities Location: Russell House, Hortham Lane, Almondsbury, Bristol BS32 4JH Salary: £21,025.58 Hours: 33 hours per week. The schedule will always include Sundays and every other Saturday. On weekdays, there will be 1 or 2 shifts per week, depending on the working weekend. Shift times are 21.30 – 08.00 and 22.00 – 09.00 Waking Night Support Worker – SEN & Disabilities (Short-Break Respite) Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities? We’re seeking a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to provide overnight care in a short-break respite setting, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment while they rest. Your Role As a key part of our team, you’ll offer vigilant overnight supervision, responding to the individual needs of each child with patience and empathy. From assisting with personal care routines to helping meet their health needs, to offering emotional reassurance, your presence will help create a calm and secure atmosphere throughout the night. Key Responsibilities ✔ Overnight Supervision & Care – Monitor and support children as they sleep, ensuring their safety and responding to any needs that arise. ✔ Personal Care Assistance – Support with toileting, repositioning, and medication administration when required. ✔ Emotional & Behavioural Support – Provide comfort and reassurance to children who may wake up anxious or unsettled. ✔ Health & Safety Compliance – Maintain a clean and secure environment, adhering to safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety guidelines. ✔ Record Keeping & Communication – Accurately document observations, incidents, and care routines, collaborating with colleagues for seamless support. What We’re Looking For ✅ Essential: Experience working with children and young people with SEN and disabilities. Understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and child protection protocols. Ability to remain alert, calm, and responsive throughout the night. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach. Willingness to undertake personal care duties and manage challenging behaviours positively. ➕ Desirable: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or a willingness to train). Training in Moving & Handling, First Aid, or Medication Administration. Previous experience in a residential or respite setting.
