Newstaff Employment Services is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Estimator (Construction) to join our dynamic team.
This role is perfect for an ambitious individual seeking to start their career in estimating and construction management. As a Junior Estimator, you will assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, helping to guide decision-making and project planning.
You will work closely with senior estimators and project managers, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field. You will be trained to analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates on time.
Responsibilities
1. Review project drawings and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
2. Assist in compiling and analysing data to estimate the time, money, materials, and labour required for construction projects.
3. Support senior estimators in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
4. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and price analysis.
5. Participate in meetings with vendors and subcontractors to gather quotes and information.
6. Maintain an organized database of estimates and project costs.
7. Learn to utilise estimating software and tools effectively.
Requirements
8. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
9. Strong numerical skills and an eagerness to develop estimating abilities.
10. Good understanding of construction methods and processes.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with estimating software is a plus.
12. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
13. Good communication and teamwork skills.
14. Willingness to learn and grow within the construction industry.
15. Some construction experience or internships will be advantageous.
