About the Role We are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to support the safe, secure and efficient operation of the Larwood School site. The successful candidate will assist with general caretaking, maintenance and health and safety duties to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Working closely with the Site Manager, Headteacher and wider Trust site team, you will play a vital role in maintaining school buildings and grounds to a high standard. Key Responsibilities Caretaking & General Maintenance Carry out general maintenance and DIY tasks, including minor repairs, painting and furniture replacement Assist in identifying and prioritising maintenance works across the school site Undertake planned and reactive maintenance tasks in liaison with the Site Manager Clear blockages, clean drains, gullies and grease traps, and respond to spillages Ensure school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and litter-free Support the wider Trust site team as required Site Safety & Security Ensure site security, including windows, doors and alarm systems Maintain safe access during adverse weather, including snow clearing and gritting Remain vigilant to pupil safety and safeguarding at all times Health & Safety Identify, report and manage health and safety risks Take immediate action to make hazards safe Comply with Trust and school policies, procedures and statutory requirements Facilities Support Receive deliveries and transport items around the site Prepare rooms and halls for meetings and events, returning them to original layouts After School Lettings Support after-school lettings by preparing and securing hired areas Emergencies & Contractors Assist with emergency and contingency procedures Support and liaise with contractors, ensuring permits and documentation are in place General Duties Participate in appraisal and professional development Carry out duties appropriate to the grade as directed Work across other Trust sites when required Person Specification Experience & Skills Experience working in a school or similar environment Proven ability in site maintenance and DIY tasks Able to work independently and use initiative Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities Good time management skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Physically able to move and carry furniture and equipment Essential Full UK driving licence We were judged as ‘good’ by Ofsted in all areas during inspection in November 2022 and 'outstanding' for Behaviour. We became an academy school in Nov 2016 and are the lead school in a 2-school multi academy trust.
