Social Worker - MACH Team

About the role:
A MACH role involves working within a multi-agency team to assess and manage safeguarding concerns for children and families. The primary purpose is to ensure timely, proportionate, and effective decision-making at the “front door” of children’s social care, based on information sharing and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities;
Screening and Triage: Receive and review referrals from professionals and the public, ensuring accurate recording and initial risk assessment.
Information Gathering: Liaise with partner agencies (e.g., police, health, education) to collect relevant information to inform decision-making.
Threshold Application: Apply local safeguarding thresholds to determine the appropriate level of intervention (e.g., Early Help, Child in Need, Child Protection).
Risk Analysis: Identify and assess risks to children, considering factors such as neglect, abuse, domestic abuse, and contextual safeguarding issues.
Decision-Making: Contribute to multi-agency discussions to agree on next steps, ensuring decisions are timely and in the best interests of the child.
Recording: Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and local procedures.
Partnership Working: Build strong relationships with partner agencies to promote effective safeguarding and information sharing.
Skills and Qualities;
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and thresholds.
Ability to analyse complex information and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for multi-agency working.
Resilience and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Commitment to child-centred practice and trauma-informed approaches.
What you need:
1. A degree in Social Work or equivalent
2. Registered with Social Care Wales/ Social Work England
3. At least 3 years PQE permanent, direct employment within English LA
4. Completed relevant post-qualifying training
5. Enhanced DBS check
6. Excellent communication and written skills
