Nearest Tube/Station: Oxshott
Wage/Salary: Monday to Saturday, Daytime: GBP19.91, Admin hours: GBP16.33. All Nights: GBP21.95, Sundays and bank holidays: GBP22.36 gross per hour. A minimum of GBP41,091.96+ gross per annum.
Driver Essential? Yes, own car needed to drive to client’s location. Automatic SUV to drive on duty.

Essential: Solid support worker background with experience supporting clients with complex care needs, basic knowledge of MAR Charts, and administrative skills. Experience of working with controlled medication, mental health knowledge, and managing seizures. This role is open to female candidates only. Non-smoker/vaper. Fluent English.

Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 36 hours over 2 consecutive days starting at 9.30am through to 9.30pm the next day. This includes an on-call night. Once the team is established, it will be possible to have the days of work set. An additional 3 hours (approximately) of Team Leader/Admin duties. As Team Leader, extra hours will be needed to cover sickness and holidays if other team members are unavailable.

Accommodation: A carer’s bedroom and bathroom are available to use on shift.

About this client: Zoe, 41, enjoys cross stitch (a newly found and much-loved hobby!), listening to music, meditation, Jellycats, online shopping, watching films, and Grey’s Anatomy. She has Ehlers Danlos syndrome, a progressive condition with co-morbidities, PTSD, seizures, cranial cervical instability, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, a deteriorating lung condition, and other health issues. Zoe receives care through the local Hospice for pain management and lives at her parents' house. Mostly confined to bed due to pain and exhaustion, Zoe can transfer with light support (no lifting) and needs help with personal care including a daily bed bath; she uses a commode. Zoe experiences extended periods of pain and may become upset or angry.

Overview of role: In addition to 1:1 support, the Team Leader will manage Zoe’s small home care team. Duties include rota management for consistent cover, collating timesheets for payroll, arranging appointments, motivating and mentoring staff, ensuring care plans are created and updated, and conducting supervision and appraisals. At night, Zoe is monitored for seizures. While classed as on-call, some nights are undisturbed; others may involve seizures lasting several hours. Zoe typically wakes up after 2:00pm, allowing for rest and light tasks like laundry. Zoe has days when she is in pain and understandably, can have a short fuse. It’s essential to remain calm, not take things personally, and know when to step back. Due to allergies, no strongly scented products (deodorants, perfumes) or peanuts, onions, fish, or shellfish are allowed. Strong organisational skills and respect for Zoe’s DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) wish are essential. Full role details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

Who this job would suit: A positive, resilient, emotionally robust, confident, and empathetic professional with solid experience as a Professional Support Worker. You will be dedicated, committed, and enjoy working as part of a team. Comfortable with clinical procedures such as administering injections (training provided). Due to Zoe’s needs, the Team Leader must be a native English speaker or fluent in English, and female.

What’s great about this job: This is a role in which you can utilise your skills to really make a difference and help create a positive, effective team providing the best care for Zoe.

Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews, and arranging employer interviews. Please note, unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies.

When a specific gender is essential, it is considered a genuine occupational requirement under paragraph 1, schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, for a female or male worker to work with our client.
