About the role
The Customer and Commercial Department is seeking an addition to the Accountancy team. The Accountant role is interchangeable within the Accountancy Service, supporting departments such as Place & Infrastructure, Customer & Commercial, and the Chief Executive’s. You will provide financial support, advice, reports, and analysis on complex financial matters, contributing to the Council's financial management.
Key duties include ensuring work is performed with continuous improvement in mind and obtaining value for money for the Council. You will contribute to reviewing accountancy strategies, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulations from Central Government, accountancy bodies, and the Council regarding revenue and capital expenditure.
We seek a candidate with a flexible, innovative approach, ready to respond constructively to challenges and opportunities.

About you
* Passionate about working in Finance and committed to professional development.
* Capable of advising at a senior level on complex financial issues.
* Demonstrates accurate numerical reasoning through complex calculations.
* Can contribute to strategic financial planning, training, and evaluation.
* Holds full AAT qualification in Accounting or equivalent, or has significant relevant accounting experience.
* Flexible and innovative, with a good response to challenges and opportunities.
