12‑month Fixed‑Term Contract Coventry (HTRC – Ansty)
Are you a Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys turning complex ideas into reality? Do you thrive at the intersection of cutting‑edge research, real‑world manufacturing, and project delivery?
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer (Project Engineer focus) to join our team at the High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) in Ansty, Coventry — a world‑class facility and a unique collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls‑Royce.
Why HTRC?
At HTRC, innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s our day job. You’ll work with state‑of‑the‑art investment casting, machining and advanced metrology equipment, helping to design, make and improve high‑performance turbine components that directly influence future engine programmes.
What you’ll be doing
As a Project‑focused Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a key role in translating customer and programme requirements into robust, safe and effective manufacturing solutions.
You will:
* Lead and deliver manufacturing projects, owning plans, risks, costs and technical packages
* Translate design intent into clear methods of manufacture
* Work closely with designers, researchers, operations teams and external stakeholders
* Ensure validation, substantiation and quality compliance of components
* Manage non‑conformances and drive continuous improvement
* Contribute to research, proof‑of‑concept activities and future manufacturing capability
While this role has a strong project engineering emphasis, you’ll remain connected to hands‑on manufacturing engineering, giving you variety, influence and technical depth.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who enjoys responsibility, collaboration and problem‑solving in a technically demanding environment.
You’ll bring:
* A degree in engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
* Strong foundations in manufacturing and component engineering
* The ability to manage projects, risk, change and cost
* Clear, confident communication skills
* A proactive, self‑driven mindset and genuine team spirit
Experience in areas such as investment casting, machining, DfM, CAD/CAM, inspection development, manufacturing trials or research environments would be a strong advantage — but passion, curiosity and the ability to learn matter just as much.
What’s in it for you?
* Work on genuinely cutting‑edge technology in aerospace manufacturing
* Be part of a high‑profile industry‑academia collaboration
* Influence future design and manufacturing capability
* A supportive, inclusive environment that values integrity, teamwork and continuous improvement
* A role where your work has visible impact, not just theoretical value
If you’re excited by advanced manufacturing, enjoy delivering complex projects, and want to contribute to world‑leading research with real industrial impact, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now and help shape what’s next in turbine manufacturing.
