Public Liaison Officer - CF46034 - Fixed Term Contract
Our client is currently recruiting a Public Liaison Officer to join their Civil Engineering team on an 18-month fixed-term contract working on the restoration of a Pier. The successful candidate will be working for a specialist contractor delivering structural restoration works as part of North Somerset Council's Pier project.
The Public Liaison Officer will act as the key link between the project team, local community, stakeholders and media. The role will involve supporting community engagement, coordinating communications, organising stakeholder events and site visits, and ensuring the public is kept informed throughout the project.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a public-facing or community engagement role, with strong communication skills and the confidence to manage enquiries, produce written communications and support outreach initiatives.
Public Liaison Officer Position Overview
Act as the first point of contact for public enquiries via phone, email and written correspondence.
Liaise with the Project Manager, Client and Social Value Lead to coordinate responses and escalate issues where required.
Support the planning and delivery of stakeholder engagement activities, including occasional evening events.
Manage and update project noticeboards and assist with project communications and PR content.
Monitor local media coverage and identify potential risks or opportunities for the project.
Support client communications by gathering project updates and photographs.
Coordinate and deliver STEM engagement activities including school visits, site visits and careers fairs.
Organise and chaperone stakeholder and media site visits.
Attend project meetings and provide updates on stakeholder engagement activity.
Maintain a secure, GDPR-compliant communications tracker and ensure accurate records for reporting and compliance.Public Liaison Officer Position Requirements
Experience working in public-facing or community engagement roles.
Experience communicating professionally with members of the public, stakeholders and clients.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Confident managing enquiries and resolving stakeholder concerns.
Experience producing written communications such as newsletters, updates or social media content.
Experience working in a project-based environment.
Strong IT skills and ability to manage records and communication systems.
Experience working with schools or supporting young people would be advantageous.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
CSCS Card desirable (can be provided).
