The role:
1. To report directly to the Senior Management Team to ensure that they are fully aware of the firms responsibilities for compliance
2. To keep abreast of Regulatory issues and ensure that these are effectively communicated to Staff, Directors and Advisers.
3. To ensure that the firm maintains and monitors its commitment to TCF
4. To work directly with the directors to highlight any potential Risk to the firm and to communicate this to the advisers. To work with the SMT to plan how to minimize the risk and to oversee any plan put in place to alleviate it.
5. To produce the Annual Compliance Plan
6. To play a significant role in the Senior Management team and to report directly to the SMF16
7. To act in a supervisory capacity and to act as support and liaison point for advisers
8. To ensure that correct procedures are in place regarding Data Protection, Money Laundering and the Consumer Credit Act.
9. To ensure all company literature is up to date and meets with regulatory requirements
10. To deal with complaints
11. Advertisement and Company Literature Approval
12. To conduct regular audits of Compliance and T & C procedures and implement any necessary changes
13. To conduct audits and inspection visits of branches and/or advisers as required following identification of potential shortcomings against company and regulatory standards
14. Design and Maintenance of Induction Training
15. Vetting of potential recruits to confirm fitness and propriety
16. To work as an integral part of the Senior Management Team to address any shortfalls in adviser standards and behaviours, determine appropriate remedial action and communicate this to Directors.
17. To assist in the completion of the RMAR twice yearly alongside the directors and submit to the FCA
18. To deal with the FCA as required
19. To manage the paraplanning team and ensure their compliance with company standards
20. Adhere to company Compliance/TCF/Data Security/Complaints procedures.
21. To ensure file reviews are completed to company standard (internal and outsource).
22. Check that Adviser are completing remedial within the company’s set timeframe and report to the SMT where this is not the case.
The successful candidate:
23. Ideally, 10 years + experience in financial services
24. Level 4 qualification or equivalent
25. Experience as a Head of Compliance/Compliance Manager in investments and pensions
26. Ideally T & C background, 121’s, supporting advisors, complaints handling
27. Experience reviewing cases
28. An interest in the technical side of the industry would be advantageous
