An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team at Longreach House. Based in Redruth, Longreach is an adult acute mental health unit working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health difficulties.
We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability. We are a people organisation and people matter to us.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to take a leadership role on the ward, deputising for the ward manager when required, oversee the day to day running of the ward and be responsible for providing high quality clinical leadership to the in-patient multi-disciplinary team through supervision and direction.
The appointee will be required to work rotational shifts including weekends and bank holidays as necessary, with a flexible manner to ensure a seamless whole service approach. Safe and effective delivery of care will be expected alongside compliance with The Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Current professional registration NMC
* Professional qualification RMN, RNLD, RGN
* Experience of working with patients with complex and challenging needs
Desirable Criteria
* To act as an assessor for learners. Having the mentoring qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification and attending mentorship updates as required.
Skills
Essential criteria
* Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication
* Up to date clinical skills in providing mental health care to patients in hospital
