The Educator Development team is part of the Product team at WSET. It is focused on providing training and support to new and existing educators.
The Educator Training Programme (ETP) is the core product provided by the Educator Development team. It trains educators via live delivery and prepares candidates to be assessed and approved for WSET Certified Educator status. ETPs are specific to each WSET subject: wine, spirits, sake, or beer.The ETP plays an important role in empowering educators and improving their skills to ensure that all WSET students receive high-quality learning experiences.
As Educator Development Manager, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of delivering ETPs and continued professional development for educators.
Delivery of ETPs (60%)
- Plan and evaluate own delivery of ETP courses
- Deliver ETP input sessions, focusing on educational best practices and techniques for teaching WSET courses
- Provide constructive feedback to ETP candidates
- Assess ETP candidates that seek Certified Educator status and issue results
- Work with the Head of Educator Development to grow and support local faculty to deliver the ETP across regions and categories.
- Delivery ETP in person and as virtual courses, predominantly in EMEA, and also in Americas and APAC when required
- Focus on delivery of ETP in wine, with delivery of other subjects streams when required and in line with knowledge and experience
- Support and provide feedback to candidates through ETP online preparation course
- Define re-observation requirements and/or supplementary tasks for unsuccessful ETP candidates
- Assess re-observations and above tasks by unsuccessful candidates
- Observe colleagues and co-teach to improve overall delivery of ETP across Educator Development and supporting faculty
Delivery of Continued Professional Development for WSET educators (20%)
- Provide CPD to educators outside of the ETP
- Use range of resources and platforms to provide CPD
- Support development of training and resources for CPD
- Teach and observe other educators teaching WSET sessions
Development (10%)
- Support development of ETP courses and resources
- Provide educator input for development of WSET qualifications by Product team
- Update ETP courses and CPD resources in line with Product updates
Course Administration and Communication (10%)
- Collate the results of ETPs and share results with relevant stakeholders
- Issue results and results letters to candidates via CRM
- Where needed, organise venues and teaching resources for ETPs
- Support communication between internal and external stakeholders
- Review feedback by educators to support ETP and CPD improvements
Other Activities
- Where needed support WSET School and Business Development teams in the delivery of WSET qualifications
- Undertake other tasks relevant to the role
Person Specification
Required
- WSET Diploma in Wines
- WSET Certified Educator
- Up-to-date WSET teaching experience
- Up-to-date subject knowledge (wine and spirits and/or sake and/or beer)
- Proven experience in educator training
-Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel internationally
Desired
- WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits
- WSET Level 3 Award in Sake
- WSET Level 2 Award in Beer or other professional beer qualification
- Teaching qualification (Level 5 or above)
- Experience with course development
- Familiarity with CRM and/or financial platforms
