Your new company
A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced and qualified Internal Audit/ Internal Controls specialist working on a hybrid arrangement, with 3 days a week working in an office based in either London or Oldham areas and with some limited travel to other UK sites.
Your new role
Your role will focus on the internal controls environment through delivery of a programme of internal control and compliance reviews.
1. Working in a small team, you will lead the delivery of the internal controls and compliance reviews and investigatory work for the organisation.
2. You will deliver an agreed programme of internal control and compliance checks. Follow up on recommendations made. Provide progress to the leadership team on work completed and recommendations implemented.
3. You will maintain oversight of the audit recommendations tracker and complete follow-up work to ensure timely implementation of actions on a risk-assessed basis.
4. You will deliver a programme of reviews providing assurance that the controls in place are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
5. You will perform investigations into irregularities or suspicions of fraud whilst respecting the confidentiality of information and following relevant regulations.
What you'll need to succeed
6. You will ideally be a qualified IIA, Internal Auditor with a public sector background, and experience of Internal Controls Testing. Or you may be a larger-firm trained Internal Auditor, who is qualified and seeking a move out of practice.
7. You will have experience of end-to-end auditing of controls, from planning and scoping, through testing and reporting, and you will then be happy working with teams to improve the effectiveness of controls and reporting on this.
8. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
9. You will need a full driving licence as there is some occasional travel within England to other offices. (approx once a month)
What you'll get in return
Hybrid working: 3 days a week in the office based in either the London or Oldham areas
Salary £54000-58500, depending on location, plus a wide range of benefits including 25 days holiday (increasing with service) and the option to buy up to a further 5 days leave.
