Royal Free Anaesthesia offers a range of general and specialist perioperative services for adults and children across 16 operating theatres on the 3rd floor, 3 additional theatres on the 1st floor for hand trauma and ophthalmic surgery, 2 obstetric theatres, and support for interventional radiology, cardiology and Emergency Department.
Main Duties
Lead anaesthetic care in the newly opened Enhanced Postoperative Integrated Care (EPIC) unit, ensuring innovative perioperative care for complex major surgical patients.
Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and effective anaesthesia across all departments.
Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives within the EPIC and existing units.
Responsibilities
Take full and independent responsibility for patient anaesthetic care in all theatre and ICU settings.
Deliver high‑quality anaesthesia, including troubleshooting and management of complex cases.
Teach and supervise junior staff, and support clinical education and training.
Engage in audit, research and continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise.
FRCA or equivalent Diploma.
CCT (or equivalent) with entry on Specialist Register for Anaesthesia within six months of interview.
Teaching qualification and experience, recognised as an educational supervisor by GMC standards.
ATLS/APLS certified.
Evidence of teaching, audit, research, and leadership experience in anaesthesia or critical care.
Other Requirements
Member of a medical indemnity organisation.
Submission for Disclosure & Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 a yearper annum plus £2,162 London Weighting.
