Associate Professor in Cyber Security
The School of Computer Science and Informatics at De Montfort University is looking to appoint an associate professor in Cyber Security within the Digital Future Research Institute.

Role
The newly appointed associate professor will contribute to leadership in a dynamic, well-established research area with strong industry connections, and contribute to synergising cyber security research with the Institute’s other research areas. They will be instrumental in generating collaborations, developing research projects and other income streams, and mentoring junior colleagues and students.
Cyber Security at DMU
The Cyber Technology Innovation (CTI) group at DMU has existed for over 15 years, with about 25 academic staff. It participates in National Cyber Security Centre initiatives and holds Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (Gold) status. Its specialisation areas include incident response, privacy, and industrial control system security. Its Industrial Advisory group includes Airbus, BT, Rolls Royce, and Deloitte UK. Recent investments to the cyber security labs have been made by the Office for Students and Deloitte UK.
Faculty / School
The School of Computer Science and Informatics, within the Faculty of Technology, Arts and Culture, is large with over 80 staff and around 2,500 students. Its research is part of the Digital Future Research Institute, focusing on AI, cyber, and social impact. The School offers an NCSC-accredited MSc in Cyber Security and an MSc in Digital Forensics, CPD, undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes in this area. The CTI contributed 2 of 5 impact case studies for REF 2021. Computer Science at DMU is ranked 301-400 worldwide (24th in the UK) in the Shanghai Ranking, and 301-400 in the THES World University Rankings.
Responsibilities
Lead in a dynamic research area with strong industry connections. Generate collaborations and research projects, and develop other income streams. Mentor junior colleagues and students. Contribute to leadership within the Institute and align cyber security research with other research areas.
Ideal Candidate
You will need strong leadership skills and initiative, the ability to build links with stakeholders (industry, government, academia), and a track record in income generation and academic publications or comparable industry-based research.
