SEND Teacher – Specialist Provision
Location: Durham
Pay: £135 per day depending on Scale Point
Start Date: Immediate Starts
Contract: Flexible Supply – Full-Time & Part-Time Available
Are you a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher looking for a rewarding role in Durham? Do you have the skills and experience to lead a small class of learners with diverse needs and make a lasting impact on their educational journey?
Vision for Education is currently recruiting a committed SEND Teacher to work across specialist provisions in Durham, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and additional learning difficulties.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in well-supported, inclusive environments where staff collaborate to provide structured, personalised learning. You will be responsible for leading a class of 6–8 pupils, delivering tailored lessons that support both academic progress and personal development.
The Role
1. Planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet a range of SEND needs and abilities
2. Leading a small class of 6–8 pupils, creating a structured and nurturing learning environment
3. Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, wellbeing, and social development
4. Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
5. Working closely with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
The Ideal SEND Teacher Will Have:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
7. Experience working with SEND pupils, particularly ASC and SEMH
8. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
9. A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
10. The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
11. A commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
