Senior Subcontract Manager

12-month contract
Paying up to 85p/h (Inside IR35)

Responsibilities:
1. Lead the delivery of sub-contract management activities and other procurement-related services required by the business.
2. Manage relationships with strategic suppliers, including supplier reviews, performance management, risks, and impacts.
3. Provide leadership and governance in business winning and programme delivery with minimal supervision.
4. Be accountable for procurement activities within the Procurement & Development IPTs.
5. Negotiate complex agreements and risk/reward mechanisms for business case models.
6. Translate customer and project requirements into commercial documents, especially for complex electronic systems and sub-systems.
7. Understand risk mitigation mechanisms related to commercial agreements.
8. Develop and negotiate contracts for services, and tangible and intangible deliverables.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure proper flowdown of terms from customer contracts to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
10. Promote customer intimacy in relationships.
11. Act as the focal point for project and supplier contract matters.
12. Lead strategies influencing business decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
13. Identify and deliver solutions for complex risks and opportunities, such as sub-contract risk, IPR, liability, and currency exposure.
14. Draft and review complex contract documentation using standard and non-standard formats.
15. Lead the creation and review of specifications and Statements of Work.
16. Share best practices and knowledge within the function and wider business.
17. Manage the contract and supply chain lifecycle management deliverables.
18. Work with stakeholders to understand customer needs and success factors.
19. Manage export compliance, restrictions, and third-party rights.
20. Operate as an expert within the function.
Experience required:
1. Technical training to degree level, professional qualification, or significant domain experience (MCIPS preferred).
2. Strong collaboration, communication, planning, problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making skills.
3. Knowledge of procurement within the Defence/Aerospace industry or similar sector, with minimal supervision.
4. Relationship-building skills with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
5. Understanding of commercial and legal aspects of contracting in the Defence/Aerospace sector.
6. Ability to think creatively and offer innovative solutions.
7. Ability to influence cross-functional and cross-site teams.
