The Payroll Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services across Aurora Energy Services’ UK operations. This role supports both office-based and site-based employees, maintaining high standards of compliance, data integrity, and customer service.
Working closely with HR, Finance, and operational managers, the Payroll Coordinator ensures that all payroll processes run smoothly—from data collection and validation to final submission—while safeguarding adherence to statutory requirements and company policies.
This role may be based in either Aberdeen or Inverness
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Verify and input payroll data, ensuring accuracy of timesheets, allowances, overtime, and site‑based job entries.
- Resolve discrepancies and liaise with managers to ensure timely approvals.
- Reviewing reports from payroll provider to verify the accuracy of monthly inputs and changes.
- Maintain employee records, including new starts, leavers, contract changes, and statutory documentation.
- Administer statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and pension contributions in line with current UK legislation.
- Following payroll policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Process monthly expenses enforcing Aurora’s Expense Policy.
- Respond to employee payroll queries promptly, maintaining a high level of service and confidentiality.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll journals.
- Coordinate with HR and Finance on workforce changes, budgeting, and process improvements.
- Maintaining thorough records for both internal and external audits.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
Essential:
- Strong experience in UK payroll processing, ideally within an engineering, energy, or service‑based organisation.
- Solid understanding of PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory leave, and payroll legislation.
- High attention to detail with strong numeracy and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- A proactive, service‑oriented approach with strong problem‑solving capability.
Desirable:
- Experience working within energy sector.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite (advantageous).
- Track record improving payroll processes.
